Lets take a pause while the CA is setting to talk about the top.
I started out with this amazing block of quilted maple. Square it up on the table saw removing the rough edges
Quick passes through the jointer, planer, and drum sander gives us a perfectly flat, square, smooth block.
Peeled off a couple slices for a drop top on another build, then the rest for a full 0.7″ thick carved top for this build.

Sanded up with a little naphtha to show off the figuring…
