Shooting a finish
Mahogany is an open grained wood, so I have to fill those pores in the wood or the lacquer will shrink into the pores and the finish will look like an adult that had a bad case of acne in their youth.
First I use a dark colored grain filler on the mahogany.
This fills the pores and accents the grain of the wood by not only filling the pores, but making them darker than the surrounding wood.
Then clear coats over the whole thing. Now it will have in my studio for 4 weeks until the lacquer has fully hardened.
